Testosterone Propionate
A profile on Test Prop, a fast-acting testosterone ester used for cutting cycles and kickstarts.
Testosterone Propionate
Testosterone Propionate (Test Prop) is a fast-acting, short-ester oil-based injectable testosterone.
Unlike Enanthate or Cypionate, which build up slowly, Propionate hits the system quickly and clears quickly. This makes it a favorite for cutting cycles (less water retention) or for users who want to be able to clear the drug from their system rapidly if side effects occur.
Quick Specs
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Active Compound | Testosterone |
| Half-Life | ~19 Hours |
| Detection Time | ~2 Weeks |
| Anabolic/Androgenic Ratio | 100 : 100 |
| Chemical Family | Testosterone |
| Administration | Injectable (IM) |
Mechanism of Action
It functions exactly the same as other testosterones but has the Propionic acid ester attached. This is a much shorter carbon chain.
Ester Weight Advantage: Because the ester is lighter, 100mg of Test Prop contains more actual testosterone (~83mg) than 100mg of Test Enanthate (~72mg).
Pharmacokinetics & Dosing
Half-Life: ~19 Hours
This short half-life dictates the injection schedule.
- Frequency: Must be injected Every Other Day (EOD) or Daily.
- Stability: Injecting Propionate once a week would cause massive hormonal fluctuations, mood swings, and side effects.
Primary Effects
1. Less Water Retention
Because levels don't accumulate as high and stable peaks are lower/shorter, many users report less bloating and water retention compared to long esters. This makes it ideal for cutting.
2. Fast Acting
Effects on libido, strength, and aggression are felt within days, not weeks.
3. Quick Clearance
If adverse reactions occur, stopping the drug results in it clearing the system in days, unlike Enanthate which takes weeks.
Side Effects & Harm Reduction
PIP Warning:
Post Injection Pain (PIP): Propionate has a reputation for being painful. The short ester can crystallize in the muscle or irritate tissue, leading to soreness that lasts for days.
1. Frequent Pinning
The need to inject EOD or daily increases the build-up of scar tissue.
- Management: Strict adherence to injection site rotation is mandatory. Use the Anabolic Tracker site rotation feature.
2. Estrogen/Androgen
Standard testosterone side effects apply (Gyno, Acne, BP), but they may onset faster due to the rapid release.
Tracking Test Propionate
Using the Anabolic Tracker app:
- Inventory: Add Testosterone Propionate.
- Scheduling: Set to Every Other Day or Daily.
- Injection Sites: You will need to rotate between at least 4-6 sites (Delts, Glutes, Quads, Ventro) to handle the frequency.
- Plotter: Observe how quickly levels drop off compared to Enanthate. This helps plan a very precise PCT start date (usually 3-4 days after last pin).
