BPC-157

A profile on the "Body Protection Compound," famous for its ability to heal tendons, ligaments, and the gut.

BPC-157

BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a pentadecapeptide made of 15 amino acids derived from a protective protein found in the human stomach.

It is widely known as the "Wolverine" peptide for its remarkable ability to accelerate the healing of soft tissue injuries (tendons, ligaments, muscles) and repair the gut lining.

MechanismAngiogenesis / Growth Factor Upregulation
AdministrationSubQ / Oral (for gut issues)

Mechanism of Action

BPC-157 works primarily by increasing angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels). Tendons and ligaments generally heal slowly because they have poor blood supply. BPC-157 fixes this bottleneck.

It also upregulates growth hormone receptors in tendon fibroblasts, speeding up collagen production.

Pharmacokinetics & Dosing

Half-Life: ~4 Hours

  • Systemic vs Local: Old advice was to inject locally at the injury site. Current consensus is that the effect is systemic (works throughout the body regardless of injection site), though sticking close to the injury is still common practice.
  • Dosage: 250mcg - 500mcg per day.
  • Frequency: Usually split Twice Daily (e.g., 250mcg AM, 250mcg PM).

Primary Effects

1. Soft Tissue Repair

Used to treat rotator cuff tears, tennis elbow, and Achilles strains.

2. Gut Health

Oral BPC-157 (specifically the Arginine salt version which survives stomach acid) is highly effective for treating IBS, leaky gut, and ulcers.

Side Effects & Harm Reduction

Safety Profile:

Very Safe: BPC-157 has an remarkably safe profile in studies. Side effects are rare and usually limited to mild injection site irritation.

1. Angiogenesis Risk?

Theoretically, because it promotes blood vessel growth, it could feed existing tumors. It should not be used if you have active cancer.

Tracking BPC-157

Using the Anabolic Tracker app:

  1. Inventory: Add BPC-157.
  2. Scheduling: Twice Daily.
  3. Metrics: Track Pain Level (1-10) for your specific injury. You should see improvement within 2 weeks.
