IGF-1 (Base / DES)

A profile on bio-identical IGF-1 and its short-acting variant IGF-1 DES, typically used for site enhancement and local growth.

IGF-1 (Base / DES)

When discussing "IGF-1" in peptides, we usually refer to one of two things:

  1. IGF-1 Base: The bio-identical 70-amino acid chain.
  2. IGF-1 DES (1-3): A truncated version (missing the first 3 amino acids).

Both are distinct from IGF-1 LR3 because they have extremely short half-lives. They are used primarily for Site Enhancement—injecting directly into a lagging muscle to force local growth.

Quick Specs

PropertyValue
Active CompoundIGF-1 / IGF-1 DES
Half-Life~10-20 Minutes
MechanismLocal IGF-1 Agonist
AdministrationIM (Into the target muscle)

Mechanism of Action

Because they lack the binding protection of LR3, these forms of IGF-1 are available immediately but are cleared rapidly.

  • IGF-1 DES: Is 10x more potent than base IGF-1 because it does not bind to IGF binding proteins at all. It binds to receptors in the muscle that have been upregulated by training.

Pharmacokinetics & Dosing

Dosing Protocol

  • Timing: Pre-Workout or Intra-Workout.
    • Why? Lactic acid buildup during training increases receptor sensitivity. IGF-1 DES thrives in this acidic environment.
  • Dosage: 20mcg - 50mcg bilaterally (e.g., 25mcg in left bicep, 25mcg in right bicep).
  • Site: Must be injected into the specific muscle you are training that day.

Primary Effects

1. Site Growth

Unlike LR3 which is systemic, DES/Base is largely localized. It can bring up lagging body parts (calves, delts, arms).

2. Hyperplasia

Stimulates the splitting of satellite cells in the target tissue.

3. Pump

Produces painful, skin-splitting pumps in the target muscle.

Side Effects & Harm Reduction

Skill Required:

Advanced Use: This is not for beginners. Injecting a specific muscle group bilaterally right before or during a workout requires knowledge of anatomy and nerves.

1. Hypoglycemia

Even though short-acting, it can drop blood sugar. Shakey hands mid-workout can result. Sip intra-workout carbs (Cyclic Dextrin).

Tracking IGF-1

Using the Anabolic Tracker app:

  1. Inventory: Add IGF-1 DES.
  2. Scheduling: Pre-Workout.
  3. Metrics: Track Arm/Leg Measurements if using for site growth.
