Snap-8 is an elongation of the famous peptide Argireline (Acetyl Hexapeptide-8). It is a cosmetic peptide widely marketed as a safer, non-toxic alternative to Botulinum Toxin (Botox).
While Botox paralyzes the muscle completely, Snap-8 works to relax the muscle by interfering with the signal that tells the muscle to contract. It is primarily used to treat dynamic wrinkles (crow's feet, forehead lines).

Mechanism of Action
Muscles contract when a neurotransmitter bundle fuses with the muscle membrane via the SNARE complex. Snap-8 mimics a part of this complex. It destabilizes the SNARE complex, preventing the release of neurotransmitters.
- Result: The muscle contraction is weakened (not paralyzed). Over time, this prevents the skin from creasing, reducing wrinkle depth.

Snap-8 is almost exclusively used topically or via microneedling.
