LL-37

A profile on the antimicrobial peptide known for its ability to fix "Leaky Gut," boost immunity, and kill pathogens.

LL-37

LL-37 is a naturally occurring peptide belonging to the Cathelicidin family. It is a critical part of the human innate immune system.

It is best described as a "bodyguard" peptide. It has broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties (killing bacteria, viruses, and fungi) and helps regulate the immune response. It is popularly used to treat SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth), IBS, and "Leaky Gut."

Quick Specs

Active CompoundCathelicidin LL-37
Half-LifeShort
MechanismAntimicrobial / Biofilm Disruptor
AdministrationSubcutaneous (SubQ)

Mechanism of Action

  1. Pathogen Destruction: LL-37 punctures the cell membranes of bacteria and viruses, destroying them.
  2. Anti-Biofilm: It breaks down the protective "slime" (biofilm) that chronic bacteria use to hide from antibiotics and the immune system.
  3. Gut Repair: It stimulates the proliferation of epithelial cells in the gut lining, physically sealing "leaky" gut.

Pharmacokinetics & Dosing

Dosing Protocol

Start LOW. LL-37 causes a "die-off" reaction (Herxheimer reaction) as it kills bacteria.

  • Weeks 1-2: 100mcg daily.
  • Weeks 3-6: Increase to 250mcg daily (if tolerated).
  • Cycle Length: 6-8 weeks.

Primary Effects

1. Gut Health

Resolves bloating, SIBO, and digestive inflammation by cleaning out bad bacteria and repairing the lining.

2. Immune Boost

Used to fight off lingering viral infections or chronic wounds.

Side Effects & Harm Reduction

Die-Off Reaction:

Herxheimer Reaction: When LL-37 kills bacteria, they release toxins. This causes flu-like symptoms (fatigue, ache, fever) in the first week. This is a sign it is working, but it can be unpleasant. Drink plenty of water and start with a low dose.

1. Injection Site Pain

LL-37 is notorious for leaving red, itchy welts at the injection site. This is a local histamine reaction. Taking an antihistamine or icing the area can help.

2. Autoimmunity?

In rare cases (like psoriasis), high levels of LL-37 can exacerbate autoimmune flare-ups.

Tracking LL-37

Using the Anabolic Tracker app:

  1. Inventory: Add LL-37.
  2. Scheduling: Daily.
  3. Metrics: Track Digestion/Bloating (1-10).
  4. Notes: Log severity of injection site reactions.
